Pigeons + Respiratory Disease

Pigeon-Related Diseases

Pigeon droppings that are not cleaned up can lead to modest health risks, including one of the following human diseases:

For years I have had a severe cough at night. I didn't realize, until now, that it was caused by the pigeons that sit on my bedroom window ledge and air-conditioner every day. I filed a complaint this morning with 3-1-1 online form which can be found here:

ABC Properties knows they have a pigeon infestation at 143 West 69 Street and 2020 Broadway (and possibly even other buildings) - however, they have not done anything to protect the tenants.

It is the landlord's responsibility to maintain a Habitable environment and to keep the pigeons away.

I am contacting a Bird Removal and Decontamination Specialist to disinfect my bedroom/bathroom areas and am going to deduct the cost from my rent. I am also replacing my badly damaged bedroom air-condition (from pigeon droppings, etc) and am also deducting this from my rent,

YOU CAN TOO.

If you are experiencing a cough or respiratory problems or see pigeons sitting on your bedroom window, you should contact 3-1-1 either via phone or online and file a complaint.

ABC Properties needs to maintain these buildings and our apartments in a decent clean manner that does not expose us to health hazards.
